Dr. David F. Box
David F. Box, M.D., is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in the surgical and medical care of the eyes and visual system, including cataract surgery, intraocular lenses, laser refractive surgery and the prevention of eye disease. Dr. Box earned his medical degree in 1983 from the Indiana University School of Medicine with highest distinction and undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology in 1979. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine. His internship was at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. Box was an Air Force physician with the Indiana Air National Guard. He completed training in Aerospace Medicine at the United States Air Force School of Aviation Medicine, and he served as a flight surgeon with the Indiana Air National Guard and Federal Aviation Administration.
His memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, Indiana State Medical Association and the Marion County Medical Society. Dr. Box was selected by “Indianapolis Monthly” as one of the Top Doctors in Indianapolis in 1998 and 2001 and by “Guide to Top Doctors in America 2003”. He was selected by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of the Top Ophthalmologists in America in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2010. He also serves as an ophthalmology medical consultant.
Dr. Box opened his private practice, known as Southside Eye Associates, in 1987. He merged his practice with the Indiana Eye Clinic in 2009. Dr. Box is available to see patients in the Greenwood office. He is affiliated with Franciscan St. Francis Health.
